The Technology Behind DAB Pumps' Esybox
The real innovation that DAB has focused on is integration and ergonomic design

The technology behind DAB Pumps’ Esybox has been in existence for many years. Centrifugal pumps were first created in the 17th century, electrical motors have been utilized since the 19th century, and variable frequency drives have been around since the 1980s. The real innovation that DAB has focused on is integration and ergonomic design—creating products that combine all these components into a single unit, making them easy to use, simple to install, and reliable.
The Esybox was released in 2013 and set the standard for the Esybox Line of pumps, which now includes the Esybox, Esybox Mini 3, Esybox Max, and the submersible Esybox Diver. Consolidating components that traditionally needed to be installed separately into one unit has proven to be a game-changer. Let's explore the technology involved.
Variable-Frequency Drive
The Esybox Line of pumps integrates a true variable-frequency drive, allowing them to operate as constant-pressure pumps. This is similar to having city water pressure that can be set to your preferred level, regardless of whether your source is a cistern, a well, or low-pressure city water. Variable frequency drives adjust the pump speed to provide only the pressure you’ve set at the current flow rate, preventing the overpressurization often seen in other pump control systems. This ensures consistent pressure even when multiple fixtures are in use—whether you're running a dishwasher, doing laundry, or taking a shower—all without any loss of pressure.
Display and Control System
The LCD display and control system are key features that distinguish the Esybox Line from other booster systems on the market. Users no longer need to install a separate pressure gauge; the display shows the exact pump pressure without needing external devices. It allows for precise adjustments, enabling users to modify pressure by one psi at a time—unlike other systems that often require adjustments of 7 psi or more. The display also provides real-time measurements of the pump system, including flow, pressure, and power usage (in both kilowatts and amperage), simplifying diagnosis and adjustments. Furthermore, changing parameters is intuitive and straightforward, moving away from outdated flashing lights or basic screens that offer limited information.
Water-Cooled Motor
The Esybox Line incorporates water-cooling technology for the motor and other heat-producing components. This innovation means the pump motor and electronic components are cooled by the water flowing through the pump, eliminating the need for fans. As a result, these pumps can be placed in tight spaces where other pumps may not fit. The water-cooling also significantly reduces noise, as the motor is surrounded by water, which acts as sound insulation. This increased comfort factor makes the pump suitable for a wider range of installation environments.
Connectivity
DAB is leading the way in connectivity with its H2D app, allowing users to connect any Esybox Line pump to their smartphones. The app provides notifications about any issues, as well as options to make adjustments such as activating power shower commands and power-saving features, all at no cost. Users can also integrate these features with Google Home or Amazon Echo devices for voice command operation. Advanced features are available for a small yearly fee, enabling full control of your pump via smartphone, along with extensive reporting capabilities through the DConnect website. This allows users to set automatic commands, change parameters, and track historical performance data. Not only does this offer greater control, but it also enables installers to monitor their customers' equipment like never before, providing detailed reports that enhance service and create additional revenue avenues.
The Esybox line of pumps offers technological advancements that surpass those of any other booster systems currently available. All of these innovations aim to make the use, installation, and maintenance of these pumps easier while also improving performance. DAB is dedicated to ongoing innovation, continuously advancing the industry in the same way its products enhance water management.
