Solinst Canada Ltd. has introduced the Model 415 12V Submersible Pump, a compact new addition to its groundwater samplers product line. The Model 415 is designed for purging and obtaining groundwater samples from 2-inch OD monitoring wells.

In a release, the company calls the pump and companion controller lightweight, portable, and easy to set up, deploy and operate. It says the pump’s sleek, short design allow it to fit easily down wells, even ones that may not be straight.

Solinst says the pump connects to the company’s 12V Pump Controller, which in turn clips to a 12V power source like a 60-amp AGM battery or higher, or a car, truck or marine battery. Adjusting the dial on the controller increases the voltage to the controller, which turns the pump’s motor faster and increases the flow rate. The company says the pump is capable of pumping groundwater from 120 feet (36.5 meters) below ground surface, with flow rates up to 3.6 U.S. gpm (13.5 L/min) in shallow conditions. Users can adjust the flow rate using the controller dial.

The release calls the pump ideal for sampling using three-volume purge protocols or performing constant-head tests in high-K (hydraulic conductivity environments). Users can thread an optional in-line disposable filter onto the pump’s intake for use in environments with high suspended solids. The company adds that users can save time and reduce sampling costs by connecting a Model 800M Mini Packer to the 12V Submersible Pump's intake. This can isolate sampling zones and minimize purge volumes.
