DFI Selects Hal Hunt Lecturer for Annual Conference
Paul W. Mayne is a professor of geosystems engineering at Georgia Tech
Paul W. Mayne, Ph.D, P.E., will offer his industry insights as the Deep Foundation Institute’s Hal Hunt Lecturer at this year’s 39th Annual Conference on Deep Foundations in Atlanta.
Mayne serves as a professor of geosystems engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He’s an international researcher with a list of published research going back to 1979. His areas of expertise include in-situ testing, geotechnical site characterization, and evaluation of rock and soil properties. Mayne performed doctoral studies at Cornell University and joined Georgia Tech in 1990.
The DFI asked for him to return to share his expertise after he delivered the 2006 James K. Mitchell Lecture and the 2009 Michael W. O’Neill Lecture. He also gave the state-of-the-art lecture for the 17th International Conference on Soil Mechanics & Geotechnical Engineering in Alexandria, Egypt, in 2009. Mayne has also acted as consultant on projects around the world.
The Hal Hunt Lecture is named for one of the original organizers of the DFI. It was set up in 1989 to honor notable communicators in the industry.
