Antimony prices have once again surged to record highs, driven by soaring global demand for critical minerals used in everything from solar panels and batteries to flame-retardant materials and military hardware.
Often overlooked, this silver-white metal is now at the center of the clean energy transition and national security conversation. Antimony helps solar cells absorb more light and improves the thermal durability of renewable tech. It's also essential to liquid-metal batteries and is used in over 200 types of U.S. Department of Defense ammunition.
A recent report from CarbonCredits.com projects global demand for antimony to jump from $2.5 billion in 2024 to $3.5 billion by 2030. The U.S. market alone could hit $106.5 million by 2032, largely fueled by demand for flame-retardant clothing, electronics, and lead-acid batteries.
Adding to the excitement, American Antimony Corporation (operating as Xtra Energy Corp., OTCID: XTPT) just reported world-class drilling results from its flagship project at Bernice Canyon, Nevada. One standout intercept hit 87 meters at 1.46% antimony, with values as high as 5.59%, and even included gold. Better yet, arsenic levels were extremely low, which makes for cleaner processing.
According to CEO Mac Shahsavar, the results confirm a 3.2 km mineralized system that could rival the world’s largest antimony deposits. And with just 8% of their land package drilled so far, the potential upside looks massive.
Meanwhile, other U.S.-based antimony players like United States Antimony Corp. (NYSE: UAMY) and Perpetua Resources (NASDAQ: PPTA) are also advancing projects critical to domestic supply chains—especially as reliance on Chinese imports becomes more uncertain.
As global energy needs accelerate, antimony’s role is looking less niche and more like a cornerstone of the future.
