In a strong vote of confidence for both clean energy and the Fort Wayne community, WaterFurnace International celebrated the grand opening of a major expansion to its corporate headquarters. The $14 million project adds 173,000 square feet to the facility—nearly tripling its size—and positions the geothermal heating and cooling manufacturer to meet surging demand for sustainable technologies.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony drew state and local officials, industry partners, and more than 250 employees, underscoring the significance of the milestone for both the company and the region. Remarks were delivered by representatives from the offices of Indiana Governor Mike Braun, U.S. Senators Todd Young and Jim Banks, and Congressman Marlin Stutzman, all recognizing WaterFurnace as a key player in northeast Indiana’s economic growth and clean tech sector.
“This expansion demonstrates our confidence in the future of renewable energy and our dedication to the Fort Wayne community,” said John Thomas, CEO of WaterFurnace International. “We’re proud to invest in this facility, our people, and our customers as we continue to lead the way in sustainable heating and cooling solutions.”
The newly completed, state-of-the-art facility was designed with scalability and efficiency in mind. In line with the company’s core mission, the building is fully heated and cooled using WaterFurnace’s own geothermal systems, which draw renewable energy from an on-site pond. It’s a tangible reflection of the company's long-standing commitment to sustainability and innovation in clean energy technologies.
Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Fort Wayne, WaterFurnace has become a national leader in geothermal and water source heat pump systems, serving residential, commercial, and institutional markets. The company has seen three consecutive years of record-breaking growth, driven by the increasing global focus on renewable energy and its reputation for advanced manufacturing, product quality, and fast delivery times.
As demand for clean, efficient HVAC solutions accelerates, the expanded headquarters is expected to play a critical role in supporting WaterFurnace’s continued growth, both in terms of production capabilities and job creation in the region.
