Borehole geophysics specialist Robertson Geo has officially opened its new UK headquarters at Tre Morfa Enterprise Park in Conwy, bringing all domestic operations under one roof for the first time in over four decades.
The move consolidates the company’s former Deganwy and Llandudno sites into a state-of-the-art 20,500-square-foot facility, featuring a custom-built manufacturing area, modern offices, a training hub, and a world-class calibration centre aimed at setting industry benchmarks across energy, renewables, offshore wind, geotechnical, and environmental sectors.
The headquarters design blends industrial utility with Japanese and Welsh cultural elements—complete with bonsai trees, locally sourced slate, and a Kaizen ‘ideas wall’ to promote continuous improvement. The new building will also house the RG Academy, a global training centre for the company’s expanding borehole geophysical and petrophysical logging programs.
Managing Director Simon Garantini acknowledged the emotional transition after 45 years at the previous sites but emphasized the momentum behind the move. “The new headquarters gives us the space and facilities to realise our ambitions, collaborate more effectively, and continue innovating at the forefront of our industry,” he said. “International demand is rising—particularly in the US and Asia—and we’re positioned to double both our team and revenue in the coming years.”
Robertson Geo, which operates in over 160 countries and maintains bases in the U.S. and Hong Kong, is planning additional expansion at Tre Morfa to accommodate its growing services division.
Dignitaries at the launch event included Deputy Leader of Conwy County Council Cllr Emily Owen, Bangor Aberconwy MP Claire Hughes, and Hirofumi Amano, President and CEO of Japan-based OYO Corporation, Robertson Geo’s majority shareholder. Amano presented Garantini with a framed print of The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai, symbolizing the company’s ambitions to “sail into the blue ocean and expand their horizons.”
Claire Hughes MP praised the company’s commitment to Conwy: “This is a hugely impressive development for the area and a great example of a business with global reach choosing to invest in North Wales. With the company creating skilled jobs and training the next generation right here, it’s a win for the whole region.”
The headquarters was delivered by Wirral-based collaborators Abundant Properties and MD Interior Fitout Specialists. “This was a real partnership project,” said Emily Gleaves, Director of Abundant Properties. “The finished space is not just functional—it reflects the spirit and identity of Robertson Geo.”
Set against the backdrop of growing global demand and the Year of Wales and Japan, Robertson Geo’s new HQ marks both a symbolic and strategic leap forward for one of the world’s leaders in borehole technology.
