Exlterra, a developer of technologies and products that tackle environmental challenges, has announced the launch of their new ultra-light drilling rig, Hazl.

Utilizing a lightweight design and narrow frame, Hazl weighs less than 3,600 pounds, and includes a pivoting rear axle, zero-degree turn capability and a 12-foot usable stroke on a unique telescopic tower. Powered by an energy efficient 26-horsepower Kohler engine, along with a proprietary hydraulic system, Hazl moves fast and freely, operable in any environment. The rig is built for performance, combining mobility and economy without sacrificing power or efficiency, according to Exlterra officials.

“The launch of Hazl will not only accelerate the development of our various environmental technologies, but also greatly benefit other applications such as geothermal, geotechnical and water well drilling,” said Andrew Niemczyk, Hazl’s creator and Exlterra’s founder.

The rig was tested for two years in numerous locations throughout the U.S. and Switzerland with operators at various levels of drilling experience.
