In a strategic move to bolster its offshore wind infrastructure capabilities, Belgian marine contractor DEME Group has acquired a 50% stake in BAUER Offshore Technologies GmbH, a subsidiary of Germany's BAUER Group specializing in drilling services for offshore wind farm foundations.
BAUER Offshore Technologies, based in Schrobenhausen, Germany, is renowned for its expertise in drilling methods tailored to complex geotechnical conditions. The company has contributed to significant projects, including the 496 MW Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm in France.
Under the agreement, BAUER Offshore Technologies will integrate into DEME’s Offshore Energy segment. The existing eight-person team will continue to provide consulting and engineering services, utilizing specialized equipment developed by the BAUER Group. Operations will persist under the BAUER Offshore Technologies brand, maintaining close collaboration with the parent BAUER Group.
The deal includes an option for DEME to acquire the remaining 50% stake within the next five years, indicating a long-term commitment to expanding its offshore wind capabilities.
This acquisition aligns with DEME's strategy to enhance its integrated solutions in the offshore energy sector, combining BAUER's drilling proficiency with DEME's construction expertise to meet the growing demand for renewable energy infrastructure.
