Down-the-hole hammer manufacturer Numa plans to exhibit at the International Foundations Congress and Equipment Expo (IFCEE) held March 5-10, 2018, in Orlando, Fla. Numa will be in booth 401.

In a release, the company says its exhibit at IFCEE will feature one of the largest ranges of DTH rock drilling hammers and bits available in the industry. It says it has more than 110 DTH products capable of drilling vertical, horizontal and reverse circulation holes from 3½ to 50½ inches (89 to 1,283 millimeters) in diameter in both hard rock and unconsolidated formations. The company will hold demonstrations using a cutaway hammer to illustrate how the tools perform downhole.

The event will also showcase the company’s Super Jaws Overburden Bits. Numa calls Super Jaws “one of the best methods for simultaneously drilling and casing holes in unconsolidated ground conditions of overburden, boulders or bedrock.” The bits have a unique wing design that retracts into the guide body when drilling is complete to aid in extraction, while leaving the casing in place, with no reverse rotation or expensive rings required. Numa says this saves drillers time and money. Super Jaws can drill holes 5½ to 42 inches (139 to 1,067 millimeters) in diameter.

Super Jaws comes in two versions. One utilizes a drive shoe welded to the casing front. As the bit advances, the casing also advances due to the drive shoulder on the guide body contacting the drive shoe welded to the casing. The other version, the Super Jaws ND, allows drillers to use thick-walled casing or thick-walled threaded casing. In that version the guide body has no drive shoulder and the casing is advanced using a casing hammer, duplex diverter or dual rotary.

Numa joins hundreds of other exhibitors at the IFCEE event, which is held every three years. Booth 401 will be in the outdoor Green Lot area.
