More than 100 drillers, drilling
managers, drilling company owners, suppliers and manufacturers are expected to
attend the 2012 National Drilling Association Annual Convention, taking place
Sept. 12-14 at the Radisson Hotel Plymouth Harbor in Plymouth, Mass. The
convention will feature educational presentations, outdoor drill rig
demonstrations and a keynote address, “Survival Lessons: Goal Attainment and
Decision Making Under Pressure,” by Michael Tougias, professional speaker and
author ofOverboard!Seven professional development hours will
be awarded for attendance at the Thursday presentations.
Presentation topics include managing
today’s risks through active contract administration; subsurface investigation
in karst geology; drilling fluid processing for re-use and handling as a waste
stream item; proper decontamination; sales and marketing of drilling services;
and hands-on rock classification training and test.
Outdoor demonstrations will include proper
mixing of drilling fluids for the geotechnical, coring and environmental
industry; a mud-cleaning unit; sonic drilling with the new 30k Sonic track rig;
environmental and geotechnical drill hole abandonment; and a Geoprobe
demonstration.
Time will be allotted for networking
with manufacturers and suppliers, and for entertainment, there will be a casino
night, including cocktails and dinner, at the hotel, as well as a golf outing
at Waverly Oaks Golf Club.
