The newest machines and tooling from Geoprobe Systems was showcased at the company’s second annual Open House in Salina, Kan., on April 23. Nearly 140 attendees from all over the world also were introduced to equipment still in the prototype stage to get a sampling of things to come.

The 7-hour event included machine demonstrations, tooling presentations, Direct Image (DI) seminars, mini service workshops, a bus tour of the company’s facilities, a catered BBQ lunch, and the opportunity to meet the Geoprobe engineering and customer service staff, as well as other industry professionals. A special group of equipment transport vehicles also was on display.

One of the major attractions at the event was the introduction of the Geoprobe 8140LS machine and long-stroke sonic technology. This new rotary sonic rig is capable of using 10-foot tooling. Another new machine unveiled was the Geoprobe 6622CPT, designed specifically for geotechnical work. New options for the 8140DT Sonic and 7822DT machines were demonstrated, in addition to rock coring, pavement cutting, new machine accessories, larger diameter tooling, and new DI logging equipment.

“Putting tools in the ground is important to us,” says Tom Omli, Geoprobe’s director of sales. “Customers see how the machines perform and what they can expect in the field. This type of event also helps educate customers, and allows them to develop and expand services they offer their client base.”
