of them are drilling related, everything
from geotechnical to water wells,
directional drilling and oilfield.
It’s getting toward the end of the year and even though the fourth quarter is busy for many drilling contractors, things normally start to slow between Thanksgiving and the end of the year.
I failed to mention in my last column that the pitless adapter along with the submersible pump and the captive air tank have, in my opinion, been the three great advances in pump system technology in the last 60 years.
In 2015, the focus was on jobsite innovations
that would make the job easier
and safer. The next step, and the 2016
focus, is that people are the most important
component of a great company.
As today’s drilling contractors focus on reducing operating costs to maintain profitability, the best way to reduce coring rod costs is to purchase rods that have the lowest cost per meter, rather than the lowest price.
In the middle of September this year, Piglet and I traveled to the southwestern part of Virginia to assist some fellow water well drillers in obtaining their Virginia Master Drillers Licenses. The drilling company they work for has been in business since 1905.
