Okay, I have to admit that five years ago, had anyone mentioned the term “drilling,” I would have assumed they were referring to some sort of DIY project.
Humans, at some point, had the great idea to poke holes in the ground to find water. An idea that likely followed closely after was, “Wouldn’t it be great if we could know where to put those holes to have the best chance of finding water?”
The work of drillers is dangerous in its own right. Operating heavy machinery, working around deep holes in the ground and working in all kinds of weather are wrought with potential safety issues.
When people hear the word “hacking,” they usually think of overgrown teenagers in their PJs on their parent’s basement computer breaking into other computers — like at the Pentagon or a bank or a certain private email server.
