Jetson, a Canadian home electrification startup, has raised $50 million in Series A funding to scale its affordable, vertically integrated heat pump business. The investment will help Jetson grow its team, expand into new U.S. markets, and roll out additional energy-efficient home appliances — including a heat pump water heater expected later this year.
Founded in 2024, Jetson claims it can install heat pumps for 30% to 50% less than traditional contractors, with system costs averaging around $15,000 before incentives. That’s significantly below the national median of $25,000 for a central heat pump system, based on 2024 estimates from Rewiring America.
The startup designs its own smart heat pump, the Jetson Air, and handles everything in-house — from software and hardware to installation and post-install monitoring. By doing it all under one roof, Jetson avoids many of the inefficiencies that drive up costs in the conventional HVAC industry, where the sales and installation process is often fragmented and slow-moving.
So far, Jetson has installed more than 1,000 systems across British Columbia, Colorado, Massachusetts, and New York, with plans to enter Washington state next. The company has grown quickly, expanding from 75 employees in September to 120 today.
Investors see a major opportunity in the heat pump market, as around half of U.S. and Canadian homes still rely on fossil fuels for heating. Jetson’s streamlined, consumer-friendly model aims to make switching to electric systems faster, cheaper, and more accessible — especially at a time when energy bills are rising, and recent U.S. policy changes have rolled back some tax incentives for home efficiency upgrades.
Jetson joins a wave of startups trying to modernize heat pump adoption. Competitors like Elephant Energy, Tetra, and Quilt have all received funding in recent years, but Jetson’s latest round — led by Eclipse Ventures — marks one of the largest to date in this space.
With new capital in hand, Jetson is betting that a better-designed product, transparent pricing, and simplified installation could finally make heat pumps mainstream in North America’s residential sector.
