In episode 92 of Ask Brock, host and drill trainer Brock Yordy discusses the “long legacy” of PHPA polymers for water well drilling, and the skepticism many drillers have for PHPAs given how tough they can be to produce out.

“We’re a hard industry to change,” he says. But today’s products have evolved from the ones our parent’s might have rejected.

“We can build drilling fluids that start with a good bentonite base, have good filtration control, and then have a low-molecular-weight, short-chain PHPA, instead of these granddaddy, giant, liquid PHPAs that we abused for so long.”

He recommends consulting with a mud engineer to get the best advice for your drilling methods and geology. Check out today’s episode to hear more.
