Chicago Pneumatic Updates Engines in Two Generators

Company’s CPG Series Now have More Powerful Deere Engines

Chicago Pneumatic compressor
May 19, 2020

Chicago Pneumatic Power Technique (CP) release updates to the CPG 250 and CPG 330 generators in its lineup. Both generator models now include a more powerful John Deere 6090 engine.

In a release, the company says the machines were built with quality, ease of serviceability, user friendliness and economical operation in mind. Chicago Pneumatic says the units can work in a range of applications, including construction, oil and gas, and special events.

Both CPG models feature a John Deere 9-liter, 6-cylinder Tier-4 Final diesel engine. The CPG 250, which has a rated prime power of 250 kVA/200 kW, operates at 290 horsepower. Its more powerful cousin, the 330, has a rated prime power of 330 kVA/264 kW, and runs at 390 horsepower.

The company says an AREP alternator excitation system allows for an outstanding starting capability, even on tough jobsites. This provides startup power with 300 percent overcurrent starting capabilities coupled to the engine’s capacity to stand a 100 percent load step.

Both units feature a corrosion resistant, powder-coated steel enclosure with a unique foam and layering system inside the doors. CP says this keeps water out and improves sound attenuation at 73 dB(A). The CPG 250 and CPG 330 are environmentally sensitive with 110 percent fluid containment.

They also offer flexibility for operators with two configurations to match jobsite conditions: the standard dual-axle trailer or an optional skid-mounted unit with forklift pockets.

Both models have a 385-gallon internal fuel tank. For the CPG 250, operators can expect to run for 34 hours at 75 percent load. For the CPG 330, operators can get 26 hours at 75 percent load. The fuel tank provides safe diesel storage while keeping tank corrosion contaminants from being introduced to the fuel system. With integrated fuel water separator and filter, CP says the system is designed to help maintain cleanliness and provide diesel supply to the engine for reliable trouble-free operation.

Large access doors and panels make the two models service friendly. The company adds that heavy duty oil, air and fuel filters extend the maintenance interval to 500 hours, reducing the total cost of ownership.

Both units feature an emergency stop. Additionally, a remote signal start and stop allows connection as a critical backup unit via a two-wire dry contact connection in the distribution panel.

A DeepSea 7310 controller is fully diagnostic with its three-inch display. CP calls it intuitive and easy to operate, with all functions conveniently at the operator’s fingertips. An optional paralleling controller includes a unique touch screen display and can link up to 32 generators of any size, working in Power Management Mode.

Chicago Pneumatic manufacturers power tools, air compressors, generators, light towers, and hydraulic equipment for professional and industrial applications around the world. It serves customers in construction, drilling and other markets. For more information, visit www.cp.com.
