The Deep Foundations Institute appointed Carlos Englert to the chairmanship of the group's Sustainability Committee. He takes over for Marine Lasne, who joined DFI's Board of Trustees.

Englert serves as senior engineer at Schnabel Engineering. He has more than 15 years experience designing and building geotechnical projects in the United States and Venezuela. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Catholic University of Venezuela and a masters from Pennsylvania State University. Englert specializes in design and field supervision of drilled shafts, pressure-injected footings, micropilings, slurry walls and ground improvements. He's also know for work on shoring, soil nailing and tiebacks.

Englert has also contributed to the DFI as part of the group's Slurry Wall Committee.

The DFI’s technical committees focus on issues specific to major methods and technologies within the deep foundations and excavation sectors. Committees work to keep DFI members and the industry current on best practices through publications, guidance documents, peer review of papers, educational events and committee reports in the group’s magazine, Deep Foundations.
