Atlas Copco Construction Mining Technique USA and Hütte Bohrtechnik are introducting Hütte’s new HBR 202 hydraulic crawler drill rig to the United States market.

Atlas Copco CMT is the exclusive U.S. dealer for Hütte rental and sales. The new HBR 202 is similar to the company’s HBR 203 model, coming equipped with an onboard electric or diesel motor and no need for a separate power supply.

Scot Simon, a foundation drill specialist for Atlas Copco CMT said his company has already added HBR 202s to its fleet, which already included Hütte machines like

the 203, 502, 504FTW and others.

The HBR 202 shares an undercarriage and mast with the 203, but it features kinematics that allow its upper structure to rotate 140 degrees left or right. It also includes the company’s new 3-speed HG28 low-profile rotary head for 21,000 foot-pounds of torque and a clearance to the front face of under 12 inches. The 202 is also remote controlled for safe operation in tight spaces.

Applications for the he HBR line include micropiling, anchor drilling, overburden and rock drilling, augering, coring, and geothermal and injection drilling.

The electric HBR 202 has a 74-horsepower motor. A diesel with 100 horsepower will be available soon.

The telescopic mast provides feed length of 4 to 8 feet, and a feed force of 8,500 pounds and pullback of 14,000 pounds. Simon says drill movement, from tramming to mast positioning are “softly” controlled through a 32 gpm load sensing piston pump.
