The Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) seeks nominations for several annual awards the group gives out to recognize notable projects and people in the industry.

 

Nominations are due by April 15, 2013. Guidelines and forms for submissions are available at www.dfi.org/about.asp.

 

The following three awards are bestowed at DFI’s Annual Conference on Deep Foundations. This year’s conference is in Phoenix on Sept. 27.

 

The Outstanding Project Award recognizes superior work by members of the DFI. The winning geothechnical project will be featured in Deep Foundations magazine and in a presentation at the conference banquet.

 

The Distinguished Service Award honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of the deep foundations industry. Selection is based on time spent in the industry, demonstrations of technological leadership, strength of the nominee’s curriculum vitae and character, and other factors.

 

The C. William Bermingham Innovation Award pays tribute to the innovative spirit of past DFI President Bill Bermingham. One winning individual, company or team gets a prize of $5,000 to recognized contributions to the DFI and the foundations industry.

 

A final honor, the Ben C. Gerwick Award for Innovation in Design and Construction of Marine Foundations, recognizes excellence in marine engineering. The award is presented at an annual fundraiser held at the DFI Marine Foundations Committee seminar. The event is a benefit for the DFI Educational Trust Sustaining Membership Fund.
