This week’s question comes from Nancy, a geologist working with drillers in the field. She wonders, is it common for a driller to step off a platform and step away from a working drill rig? It’s Ask Brock episode 180.
It’s a fair question from someone who doesn’t operate the machinery. What is safe and what isn’t?
“As scientists and as drillers, we need to communicate better and have that discussion,” Yordy says. Both sides can work better at setting expectations about each other’s roles and responsibilities for safety — and all other aspects of the work.
