Development is the beginning of the end of a water well job. But what are the best methods for developing a newly installed well? On today’s Ask Brock, episode 72, host Brock Yordy answers a question from Bob in Rapid City, Iowa, about what drillers can do to optimize well development.
It’s “become a lost art,” Brock says, from the days of cable tools, walking beams and swabbing.
“The one thing we have to realize is that air development is not giving us the hydraulic energy that we had when we had those major surging and swabbing actions,” he adds. What’s the solution?
He says to start with understanding the drilling program and how you’re going to impact the formation.
