The Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) is extending its deadline until Dec. 3 for its call for papers for the 38th Annual Conference on Deep Foundations. The conference is set for Sept. 25-28, 2013, at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge in Phoenix.

DRI is seeking abstracts on a variety of topics, including:

  • Deep foundations for telecommunication and energy industry
  • Deep foundation design, construction, performance and behavior in special soil/rock conditions (e.g. expansive soils, collapsible soils, sand-gravel-cobble soils, cemented calcareous formations)
  • Seismic design considerations for deep foundations
  • Impacts/implications of LRFD design procedures on deep foundation industry
  • Design and construction state-of-the-art practices for deep foundations and retaining structures
  • Lessons learned and solutions for challenging projects
  • Deep foundation design optimization and value engineering

Interested authors should submit an abstract of not more than 300 words online atwww.dfi2013submissions.org. Abstract document should include author names, affiliations and contact information. Authors will be notified as to whether or not they have been selected to submit a draft paper by Dec. 14. Paper format guidelines are available from the submission website and from DFI headquarters.
