Quarry Academy is set for Nov. 8-10, 2011 in San Antonio. This
three-day technical course will address current best practices in unit
operations with a focus on systems integration, economic sustainability, process
improvement, cost reduction and the use of practical safety as a part of daily
work behavior.
Topics covered will include improved safety, drilling, blasting, fines and
boulder management, load and haul, fleet management, crushing and screening,
the quarrying process, quarry management and unit-operation efficiency. Quarry Academy
not only addresses critical processes within the quarry, it focuses on the
relationship between each process, how they systematically interact with one
another and how they can be linked to improve overall operational improvement.
Sandvik and Dyno Nobel have assembled a team of expert instructors, each with
years of industry experience in quarry and mining operations around the world.
The focus will not be on the companies’ products, but on the processes within
the quarry that drive productivity and improve efficiency.
The 2011 edition of this event will be held at San Antonio’s Omni La Mansion del Rio Hotel
(room rate, $159; 800-843-6664). Cost for Quarry Academy 2011 will be $1,295.
Note: Steel-toed shoes are required to visit the quarry
site.
