The EPA is seeking comment on a draft proposal of the Stage 2 Disinfectant Byproduct (DBP) rule, which would alter monitoring requirements to ensure that all customers receive water that complies with current DBP standards.

The draft also would set a new maximum contaminant level goal of 70 micrograms/liter for chloroform, the first time EPA has recognized a safe exposure level for a carcinogen, according to the American Water Works Association.
