Geoprobe Open House, April 2014
Rig manufacturer Geoprobe rolled out the welcome mat at their Salina, Kan., facility for an open house on April 24, 2014. About 300 people turned out for two days of new products and technology, including the unveiling of two new rigs. There were also demos, facility tours and workshops. Outside Demos
About 300 people representing companies from the United States and six other countries attended. Geoprobe unveiled two rigs at the event: the Geoprobe 8150LS Sonic and the Geoprobe 3230DT, which performs both direct-push and rotary/auger drilling.
Geoprobe 8150LS Sonic: A Good Fit
The company’s new 8150LS Sonic, which made its debut at the event, makes long-distance mobilization more feasible. Here, the rig drives right into a standard cube shipping container with a door opening of 101-inches-by-92-inches.

Open house attendees are treated to three different equipment and tooling demonstrations held simultaneously.
Direct Image Seminar
Attendees got a chance to hear about Geoprobe’s new Direct Image products and software changes during a pre-open house seminar. They received group training for Low Level MIP Logging, HPT Operations, Basic CPT Logging and more.
The Geoprobe 3230DT
Nathan Peters, an engineer with Geoprobe, works the controls of the new 3230DT rig during a demonstration. The 3230DT is a mid-sized tracked rig that combines direct-push with traditional auger and rotary capabilities.
