Imhoff cone, bucket, pickle jar? This week, host and drilling expert Brock Yordy takes a question from Brian about best practices for testing sand content during groundwater well development. It’s Ask Brock 219.
“We see a lot of Imhoff cones because it’s an industry standard,” Yordy says. “Yet, if I pull out my ‘Groundwater and Wells book, what’s the first thing that it says when we start looking at measuring sediment content? That the Imhoff cone (with) randomly selected samples is not that accurate.”
