In episode 87 of Ask Brock, host and drilling trainer Brock Yordy answers a question from Tony in New Mexico about leadership: how to lead without coming off like a jerk.

“There’s a lot going on that makes us want to be direct, to the point, outline things,” he says. He urges jobsite leaders to communicate goals and risks to the crews daily. But he also cautions crew leaders to check their egos and put faith in their talented crews.

“We have an outline for a plan, and then we have them come up with the way it’s going to be executed. It doesn’t have to be our way. That will 100% help.”

The ultimate goals, of course, are drilling safety and productivity. But balanced leadership can help — and show the way for future crew leaders. Check out today’s episode to hear more.
