The Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) has welcomed Paul Brophy as its new president.

Brophy, who served as president of the council from 2007 to 2008, will replace Louis E. Capuano Jr., who will serve as the board of director’s past president.

With more than 35 years in the geothermal industry and 45 years of experience with energy and natural resources, Brody brings a wealth of know-how to the position. He is currently the president of EGS Inc., a geothermal exploration servicer in California.

Brophy has worked on projects around the world including Australia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Russia, Peru, Chile, Indonesia, Montserrat and the Philippines. He holds a master of science in mining and exploration, a master of science in geophysics and a bachelor’s in geology. Brophy is a certified hydrogeologist and registered professional geologist in California.
