HARDERN-Helle CRC2, a high chromium hard-facing wire, now is available in 0.045-inch diameter. With lower current and amperage requirements, it helps protect against severe abrasion. It produces a steady arc with very low spatter and little slag. It can be applied without shielding gas, but use of CO2 will enhance out-of-position work. Low penetration minimizes base metal dilution, providing a deposit that is high in wear-resistant chromium carbides. Typical hardness ranges from 58 to 64 Rockwell C. A 5- to 1-inch stickout at 200-250 amps, and 24-28 volts is recommended. It is available in 10- and 25-pound spools. Performance Alloys Corp.
