Tips for Installing, Grouting 600-Foot Geothermal Loops
Geothermal drillers will tell you how common it is to see jobs with deeper and deeper holes. But what changes for geothermal drilling as depths increase? Drilling expert Brock Yordy answers a question this week about what to expect on a project with 600-foot loops. It’s Ask Brock episode 157.
“Because of geothermal in urban environments and small footprints, we’ve been coming to this where we’ve gone from 300-foot holes to 500-foot holes to you drilling 600. I’ve heard of 1,000-foot holes,” he says. “It all comes down to proper tooling, planning and a drilling program for that drilling phase.”
