A foundation, according to Merriam-Webster, is “a usually stone or concrete structure that supports a building from underneath.” That’s the first definition. That’s the straightforward, “surface” definition. But I want to dig a little deeper.
The dictionary also talks about a foundation as “something (such as an idea, a principle or a fact) that provides support.”
